Brewster

Tonight's story is another memory from Kindergarten. Sam was always up for an "adventure", and we loved for find reasons for having a special day or two! Early in the school year, we were given the perfect excuse! Brewster, the class mascot, came home to spend the weekend with us!!
We had to be a good host family and show Brewster our best hospitality!! If we got to have fun in the process - all the better!! the first evening, Sam introduced Brewster to his family - Mom, Dad, little brother Noah, and little sister Rachel. Sam's Granny even came to visit so she could meet Brewster.
That night we enjoyed a fun dinner at Carl's Jr. Then we took Brewster to see the falls in Wichita Falls.
The next day was Saturday. The big event for the day was a skating birthday party for one of Sam's friends. Of course, we couldn't just leave Brewster at home, so we simply took him with us...

On Sunday, we took Brewster to church with us. Following the service, we enjoyed a typical Sunday afternoon: lunch at a local restraunt and then exploring the local mall for a bit. That evening we packed up all of Brewster's belongings and discussed what we had done over the weekend.

So why is this a special memory? Well, one of the things Sam was so very good at was finding joy in the everyday things. He tried to squeeze all the happiness he could out of every single day. This story and these pictures remind me of how he viewed a special visitor, a little stuffed bear, as a special guest. He enjoyed sharing the simple things in his little boy world with his new friend; family that loved him, a friend's birthday celebration, attending worship services with people who he knew loved him, and an afternoon together with the people who knew him best... A grand adventure? To Sam, it was!!
